Robert Heysham Sayre (1824-1907) war ein führender Ingenieur und Industriemanager im 19. Jahrhundert. Als Vizepräsident und Chefingenieur der Lehigh Valley Railroad sowie als Vizepräsident und Generalmanager der Bethlehem Iron Company, dem Vorläufer von Bethlehem Steel, prägte er maßgeblich die industrielle Entwicklung in den USA. Sayre war auch philanthropisch tätig, unter anderem als Vertrauensmann des St. Luke's Hospital und als Gründungsvertrauensmann der Lehigh University. Sein Name wurde zum Namensgeber für Orte in Pennsylvania und Oklahoma. | ||||||||

Robert Heysham Sayre (1824-1907) was a leading engineer and industrial manager in the 19th century. As Vice President and Chief Engineer of the Lehigh Valley Railroad, as well as Vice President and General Manager of the Bethlehem Iron Company, the precursor to Bethlehem Steel, he played a significant role in shaping industrial development in the USA. Sayre was also active in philanthropy, serving as a trustee of St. Luke's Hospital and as a founding trustee of Lehigh University. His name became the namesake for locations in Pennsylvania and Oklahoma. | ||||||||
